Uhm, the shopaholism inside me was unleashed. I need to haul it again and tie the chain around it.
Yesterday, I took my brother with me to TeleTech SM Bacoor to get my payback. After waiting for an hour in the TeleTech lobby, I was summoned in the HCD office, and someone released my paycheck, but I forgot what’s her name.
We went to BPI to encash the check, but they said they don’t accept company-issued checks, so I have to go to BPI Intramuros. Oh crap. I saw the dismay in Carl’s face when he heard that. I didn’t leave the counter until someone provided an alternative solution to my problem. My plan was to go back to TeleTech and force them to issue me a check that could be encashed in any bank. Technically, the HR personnel who issued me the check lied to me, because when I asked her, “Where can I encash this (the check)?” She replied, in any bank. Crap.
I was about to leave to go back to TeleTech, but the bank teller told me that I can deposit the check in my account, but there would be a day clearing, which means I can’t have the money that day. Instead, I can withdraw my money through ATM the next day. So, to save me time, I decided to just deposit the check to my bank account. But the problem was, my fratello was so disappointed. You know, I let him skip school just to take him to the mall so that we could go shopping. I really felt bad about that, so to cheer him up, I still took him for lunch. He had spaghetti, burger and fries, while I had burger, fries and caramel sundae. Guess what, it worked! Haha. He seemed so happy when I promised him that I will take him to Alabang Festival Mall the next day (today), after we ate.
We went to check out some tuxedos and suits for his upcoming prom, and I could say that my brother was developing a classy fashion sense. He told me that he’ll just go to school, even if it’s late, so I gave him a hundred pesos and dropped him to school.
I went home and informed my mom what happened to my day, and I went to the gym at four pm. Good thing, my stalker wasn’t there. Whew. I didn’t spend a lot of time there, because I was alone, Krissie wasn’t with me.
I went home after my workout routine and went online. I just checked my mails and greeted my friends because I need to log-out right away; we’re gonna watch Wanted.
WANTED
STARRING: James McAvoy, Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman
Wesley Gibson (played by James McAvoy) works as an accounts manager, under a demanding, and a nagger, fat, female boss, Janice. He lives with his girlfriend, who sleeps with his bestfriend, Barry. He takes anxiety pills, and wonders who was his father. His father left him when he was seven days old.
One day, while taking prescriptions in the pharmacy, a woman (Angelina Jolie) named Fox tells him that she knew his father. He thought she had mistaken him into someone, and tells her that his that left him when he was seven days old. But she said that his father was killed yesterday, and his killer was right there now, seeking to kill him too.
Fox exchanges fire with Cross (the man who killed Wesley’s father, according to Fox), and looked like she rescued him. Fox takes Wes with her, and Cross follows them and they had a wild car chase. Fox takes Wesley in their hideout, the textile factory to meet her boss, Sloan (Morgan Freeman). Sloan explains why Wesley was wanted by Cross. According to Sloan, Cross killed his dad, and he wants Wesley to be in The Fraternity, a secret org of elite assassins. Sloan tests Wesley’s shooting skills by making him shoot the wings of a fly, with a gunpoint on his head. Wesley actually did that, and he asks why.
Sloan explains that Wes was able to do that because his heart beats faster when he’s stressed. Wes leaves the headquarters and goes home, hoping that everything was a dream.
The next day, Wes sees the gun he used in shooting the fly’s wings in the bathroom. He checks his ATM and sees the 3 million fund transferred by his father to his account. He goes to work, and walks out of the office when he finally stood up against his boss, Janice. He hit his bestfriend with a keyboard. He sees a newspaper, with his picture and Fox’s, in the front page. They’re wanted.
Fox gives Wes a ride back to the headquarters. Wes joins the org and started training.
Sometime later when his training is complete, Gibson is given orders to kill people from the Loom of Fate, a loom that gives the names of the targets through a binary code hidden in weaving errors of the fabric. While on his first assignment, Gibson has second thoughts and hesitates killing his target. In a flashback we learn that he told Fox it isn’t right to kill people without knowing anything about them or why they deserve to die. Fox then relates a childhood story: About a judge handling a sensitive case and the defendant had ordered him assassinated. A hired killer held the young girl at knifepoint as they waited for her father to return home. The killer then lit the father on fire as the young girl watched, and then branded his initials into her neck. Fox explained that the man who killed the judge had been targeted by the Fraternity several weeks prior to the events of the story, but their assassin had failed to carry out his duty. Fox then tells Wesley the Fraternity’s idea, “Kill one and maybe save thousands”. As she prepares to leaves, he notices initials branded on her neck and realizes the story was about her. Back to present we see Wesley bends a bullet trajectory to kill the target a moment after this recollection.
Whenever Sloan orders Gibson to kill a person, Gibson would ask whether the target is Cross as he cannot wait to have revenge. At one time, Sloan grants his wish as the next target is Cross. Fox feels that it is too early but Sloan gives her another order where the target is Gibson.
Gibson and Fox travel to the Fraternity’s original base of operations in Europe. The two easily capture Pekwarsky and force him to take them to Cross. The meeting leads to a confrontation between Wesley and Cross on a moving train. Fox steals a car and crashes it into the train, eventually causing the train to derail when it reaches a bridge over a deep ravine (killing all innocent passengers). Wesley is about to fall into the ravine before Cross catches his hand, saving his life. Wesley unhesitatingly shoots him. Before Cross dies, he tells Wesley that he is his real father and that the Fraternity had been lying to him. Fox confirms the truth and explains that Wesley was recruited because he was the only person that Cross wouldn’t kill. Fox then tells Wesley about the kill order on him and raises her weapon to shoot him. Wesley, however, shoots the glass underneath him and plunges into the river below.
Gibson awakes in an apartment across the street from his former apartment. He finds Pekwarsky there. Upon inspecting the apartment, he discovers it belonged to his father, who had been monitoring him his whole life. Pekwarsky hands Wesley a loom weaving and tells him to decode it. Gibson is shocked to discover Sloan’s name in the weaving. Pekwarsky explains that after Sloan discovered that he was the next target stated by the Loom of Fate, he started manufacturing his own targets and after discovering this Cross goes rogue and Sloan turns the Fraternity against him. Since then Sloan has used false kill orders to direct the Fraternity as mere contract killers. Gibson realizes that Cross had never actually tried to kill him in their previous confrontations; he had been assassinating Fraternity members to keep them away from Wesley. Pekwarsky departs after giving Wesley plane tickets, stating that his father wished him a life free of violence. While exploring the apartment further, Gibson discovers a secret room containing all of his father’s weapons and maps. He even finds a supply of the Exterminator’s mini-bombs, realizing that the Exterminator had been working with his father. Wesley then devises a plan to take out Sloan and the Fraternity. Upon entering Sloan’s office, he finds himself surrounded by Fox and her fellow master assassins. Gibson tells them that Sloan is killing for profit by providing his killers with fraudulent kill orders. He then attempts to kill Sloan, but is disarmed by Fox.
Fox asks Sloan if this is true. Sloan then reveals that all of their names had come up in the weaving, and that he had merely acted to protect them. He then goes on to explain that if they truly believe in the code then they should take their lives right where they stand. Otherwise, they should kill Wesley. The other assassins decide to kill Gibson, but Fox turns on her fellow assassins. She “curves” a bullet to kill the assassins who had been standing in a circle, then throws her gun to Wesley before stepping back into the bullet. Sloan escapes. Wesley, penniless once more, does not know what to do with himself. While Wesley provides a voice-over, the audience sees a young man sitting in front of a computer in a cubicle much like Wesley did at the beginning of the film. The man types the name “Wesley Gibson” into Google and searches for it but does not have any results, as in the beginning of the film. Sloan appears and points a gun at the man’s head. At that moment, the man turns around and is revealed to be a decoy and looks down. Sloan also looks down and realizes he is standing on a marked spot. He then looks up and says, “Oh, fuck”, before Wesley, who is actually miles away, shoots him in the head from the comfort of his own apartment, from the same window his father killed Mr. X from at the beginning of the movie. It is also shown that the same bullet passed through an energy drink his former best friend was holding as his unfaithful girlfriend looks on in shock, and passed through a donut his former boss was about to eat mere moments before it killed Sloan.
The movie ends with Wesley breaking the fourth wall, addressing the audience and giving an overview of his last six weeks as an assassin saying, “This is me taking back control of my life. What the fuck have you done lately?”
The trailer was freakin’ awesome, but the movie itself, nah. It’s good, but not enough to be one of the favorites. And the special effects were very, very unrealistic, you know. The plot was good, but I wasn’t satisfied with the ending. You know, when Fox learned the truth, and committed suicide by lining up in the bullet trail she released to kill her co-assassins. Uhm, that’s imposssible, you know.
The moral of the movie? 1.)Never let anyone to push you around 2.)stick for yourself 3.) Killing is not a solution. 6 out of 10 stars.
I slept after we watch the movie in order to wake up early the following day.
Today, I and Carl went to Alabang Festival mall. You know, I need to fulfill my promise because I want to set a good example for my brothers. But first, we went to SM Molino to withdraw some money. You know, just to make sure that we have money, because when we get to Festi Mall, there’s a possibility that all BPI ATM machines are offline.
When we had the money, went there right away. First, we hunted for a good pair of Sketchers shoes, because that’s the reason why I was there. That’s my number one priority. We checked the Sketchers Store, but we didn’t find anything that suits my style, so we checked Robinson’s Department Store. We found a pink pair, but it’s just 8 and a half inches, my size is nine and a half, so we looked for another. Well, I could say that my brother also got the shopaholic genes, because he wasn’t complaining that he was tired or hungry. Instead, he helped me to choose and pick. The last stop: Fusion Store. But the problem was, I don’t actually remember where it was located, to the fact that Festi is huge. After an hour or so, we found it.
I found the “One”. It was all khaki, but in lightest shade, with purple accents. I asked for my size and the sales attendant gave it to me. It was perfect, plus the attendant was very helpful, unlike the one in Robinson’s department store. I paid for it, and we went to have lunch.
We had the same thing we ate yesterday. After lunch, we went to find Havaianas for Carl. Unfortunately, all the sizes are either too small or too big for him, so I bought him a Polo shirt instead. Whoa, my brother has an expensive taste, and it cost me dearly. Anyways, I didn’t hesitate to buy it for him because, he’s my brother after all, and I like to share my blessings that God gives me.
We went back to Robinsons Dept Store, and I bought a different color of the miniskirt I bought to weeks ago. Pretty much, the brown is just the same with black (the one I bought), but I like to have a different color. I swear, next time, I’ll buy the white one.
Carl told me that he’s tired, and we had enough shopping, so we tried to get out of the mall. Actually, that’s the hardest part. You know, getting out of the mall. Though I still have money to spend, I tried to get out as much as possible, so that I won’t get to spend it all. I’m glad I don’t have a credit card, because if I do, well, I won’t leave the mall until I have used the credit limit.
We’re about to leave when I saw Powerbooks from afar. You know how I love books so much, so I dragged my brother inside. I asked the sales attendant about the Princess Diaries IX and she told me where it was located. I checked the price. 396. Dang. Too expensive. Well, I have the money, but I need to show my mom the “left-over” of my backpay from TeleTech. I decided that I had to pass, because first, nobody will have an interest to that book, for goodness’ sake, it’s the last book, and it’s not good to read it without reading the first 8 books. Second, I hid in the farthest corner of the bookstore, so that nobody will find it. I’ll buy that next time, maybe next Friday, when my aunt pays me for helping her arranging the flowers.
I was about to leave when Dana (Saosa) called me. I swear, I didn’t really notice her. She was sitting beside the shelf wherein the Princess Diaries was placed. I turned to see who was it, and when I turned around it’s here. Actually, I didn’t know what I felt. It’s not that I was all excited or what, because we didn’t bond that much at work. I asked her how was her application in Hsbc and she told me that they hadn’t called her yet. Well, I guess I’m the first one to get in Hsbc.
We talked a little, and I asked if she knows about the hearing. She said, she heard about it, but she’s not gonna attend the meeting, who was scheduled today, 3:30 pm. I said I wasn’t coming because I had a lot of things to do. I introduced Carl to her, but Carl was shy, and he just nodded at her from afar. I said we need to go so we went.
We stayed in Festi a littile longer, browsing in the boutiques. I both an ube macapuno cake for Ed and Mom.
I dropped my brother at the Woodsite 3 main entrance, and I went to our dermatologist to get some prescriptions for Mom.
When Mom came, she was excited to see what we bought in the mall. I showed her the Skechers I bought, and she was like, “Wow, great taste, I’m so proud of you!!!’ Haha. No, she said it was cute. Carl showed the shirt, and my mom’s eyes bulged when she saw the tag price. She was like, “Are you out of your mind? That’s too expensive!!!!” I said, “Well, it’s there, I can’t return it.” She wasn’t mad or something, but she told me not too spend too much on my brothers. Well, they’re my brothers, why shouldn’t I? Besides, I don’t only work for myself, I work for them, too. Plus, I paid for it. I didn’t tell about the brown miniskirt, because she’ll go cuckoo about it. I know what she’s gonna say, “You have one, why do you have to buy another?” Uhm, I have the black, but the brown looks good on me too.
Now, I figured what makes me happy. It’s not love, you know. Haha. It’s money. Kidding!!!!
Well, partially, yes. I’m happy when I spend. I do save, but I don’t get any pleasure from keeping the money. Surely, it’s better to spend my money in clothes, books, bags, shoes, tech gadgets, rather than drugs, alcohol, or whatever vice. It’s healthier that way, right? Plus, I work hard for the things I want. It’s not as if I’m asking my parents, who can’t afford, to give me money for my vice. And I do share my blessings to other people.
But what makes me happy in this life? Uhm.. I’m happy when I can do what I want. For example, reading, writing or hanging out with my friends. It’s so fulfilling when I’m able to do those things.
Speaking of friends, Erika texted me. I forgot to reply. And I will take my time to reply, because I texted her a lot of times, and I never got a single reply from her. I missed my girls so much. It’s not that I don’t have friends here, but I developed a special bond with them. I can’t lie to them, you know. I practically tell everything to them, especially Jeni. Because I know that they know me, so what’s the point of lying to them? Or keeping the truth from them, at least.
Actually, I’m shy to tell them that I stopped going to school. You know, because back in highschool, they knew me as the studious girl, whose uncle was the principal of the school. But I know that they will understand, so I told Jeni. Besides, I moved on. I’m happy now. With God with me, I couldn’t be happier. And God gives me a lot of blessings; He even allows me to go to the mall every Sunday, after church. Haha. Kidding.
I just wonder how Gareth will deal with all of these. You know, my renewed faith to God, and me, being a goody-goody. He’ll find it corny, but whatever. Thy will be done. That’s easy. If we’re for each other, uhm, we’ll be together.
